 Joint Action in Community Service (JACS) is seeking volunteers to conduct outreach and assessment calls with under-served youth in Yuma County. Volunteers provide local assistance to the youth in the form of advice, encouragement and referrals to community resources, to help them reach their goals and increase opportunities. Volunteer Advisors contact youth in their communities over the phone from their own homes.
QUALIFICATIONS
Desire to learn basic counseling skills to help youth.
Ability to listen effectively and establish rapport with diverse populations.
Bilingual in Spanish a plus..
Previous experience working with youth a plus. TIME COMMITMENT
1-2 hours/month TRAINING
2 hour initial training includes information on JACS, Job Corps, student needs, basic counseling techniques and resource development.
