Cultural Council of Yuma mission statement is to foster the excellence, diversity, and vitality of the arts and culture in the Yuma area.
Description:
During 26 years our organization has provided leadership in advocating and promoting arts and cultural activities to preserve the rich traditions in the Yuma community. Cultural Council fosters appreciation for cultural and ethnic diversity in its programs as reflected in the arts; facilitates cultural exchange and provide forum for cooperation among arts and cultural groups. Cultural Council of Yuma artistic vision for systematic growth includes producing quality art and cultural activities that reflects Yuma's ethnic diversity, in addition to offer art education programs, providing a series of art and culture seminars and workshops.
History:
Cultural Council of Yuma was incorporated in l982, and designated by the Yuma City Council as the official cultural coordinator (Resolution #2593 dated October 18, 1989). Since then Cultural Council of Yuma has promoting the arts, humanities, and cultural activities; fostering appreciation for cultural and ethnic diversity; facilitating cultural exchange and providing forum for cooperation among the greater Yuma area arts and cultural groups. Cultural Council of Yuma originated as an arts movement by community leaders and the Cultural Affairs Committee of the Yuma County Chamber of Commerce who recognized a need to improve the quality and scope of the visual and performing arts in the Yuma area
