Healthy Families is a home-based, voluntary program serving families at risk during pregnancy and after the birth of the baby. Major program goals are to enhance parent/child interaction, promote child healthy and development and prevent child abuse and neglect.
Description:

Services include such things as child-development, nutrition, and safety education;teaching appropriate parent-child interactions and discipline; encouraging self-sufficiency; providing emotional support to parents; referrals for developmental delays; and linking families to community services.
History:
Healthy Families Arizona Program began in October, 1991 and is based on over two decades of research and experience with home visitor programs nationwide. The Healthy Families Arizona Program expanded in 2004/05 due to an increase in the legislative appropriation and is serving over 100 communities throughout Arizona.
