The vision of Campesinos Sin Fronteras is to promote family, social, and economic stability among the migrant and seasonal farmworker community of Yuma County and border communities.
Description:
CSF uses education, advocacy, and hands on involvement of Promotores (lay health workers)to reach and educate the target population. CSF has various programs that service the community such as:Diabetes, High Blood pressure, cholestorol, HIV/AIDS, Environment, Tobacco, and scholarship opportunities. These programs cater directly to the farmworker community.
History:
Campesinos Sin Fronteras took the lead to serve the farmworker population by organizing an annual Health and information fair "Dia del Campesino"((Day of the Farmworker)to provide health screening, housing, employment, and educational resources. Campesinos Sin Fronteras has been in existence since 1997. CSF officially became a non-profit 501c3 organiztion in 2000. Board members and staff of Campesinos Sin Fronteras have farm worker backgrounds that has enabled them to understand and be sensitive to the disadvantaged situations of farm workers in regard to the living and working conditions some of which include poor housing, lack of health services, effects of immigration reform, under representation, lack of affordable housing, low education attainment, and high unemployment rates.
