To create opportunities for greater tolerance and understanding between Americans and peoples of the world. Each year, the SHARE! High School Exchange Program selects and sponsors approximately 750 exchange students, between the ages of 15 and 18 years old, to experience life in the United States by living with Host Families and attending local public high schools for one semester or a full academic year.
Description:
HOST FAMILIES -with or without children- are needed to host international teen ambassadors from over 40 different countries for the upcoming school semester or academic year. They are in need of caring families to provide a home and share with them this unique experience. Host families will provide a bed, meals, as well as friendship, understanding, and a genuine desire to share the American way of life with a youngster from overseas. All students speak English, are covered by medical insurance, and have spending money for their personal expenses. The young ambassadors are between the ages of 15 and 18, and will attend the high school closest to their host family's home or a private high school. Families are able to review student applications and select the student they feel will best match their family. For more information, please call Yvette Coffman at the SHARE! Southwest Office at 1-800-941-3738.
