Description:
We provide a variety of fun and exciting programs for youth in 1st through 5th grades and older youth age 11 to 21 years old. These programs instill character, citizenship, and promote physical fitness. Programs offered are: Cub Scouts (male youth age 6-10 in 1st through 5th grade); Boy Scouts (male youth age 11-18); Venturing (male and female youth age 14-21).
History:
The Boy Scouts of America was incorporated in 1910 and was chartered by Congress in 1916. For the last 98 years it has proven to be an invaluable leadership and educational opportunity for more than 110 million members. The program is organized into geographic regions called Councils which are subdivided into smaller community serving units called Districts. In Arizona there are two primary Councils. The Grand Canyon Council based in Phoenix which covers most of the State, and the Catalina Council which covers the Tucson area. Yuma County is located within the boundaries of the Grand Canyon Council and is served by the Ocotillo District.
