The Boy Scouts of America was incorporated in 1910 and was chartered by Congress in 1916. For more than a hundered years it has proven to be an invaluable leadership and educational opportunity for more than 110 million members. The program is organized into geographic regions called Councils which are subdivided into smaller community serving units called Districts. In Arizona there are two primary Councils. The Grand Canyon Council based in Phoenix which covers most of the State, and the Catalina Council which covers the Tucson area. Yuma County is located within the boundaries of the Grand Canyon Council, headquartered in Phoenix, and is served by the Ocotillo District here in Yuma.
