YCAEYC is dedicated to providing advocacy, collaborative, diverse opportunities and training for professionals working with young children. The organization seeks quality services for children birth through eight years of age through professional development opportunities.
Description:
YCAEYC is an affiliate of the National Association for the Education of Young Children. YCAEYC host professional development opportunities throughout the year for early care and education professionals. In early spring of this year YCAEYC will be hosting a Dance Festival with various culturally diverse dance groups performing and providing educational information regarding their performances. The event will be registered with S*CCEEDS (Arizona's Early Care and Professional Development Registry)for Early Care and Education Continuing Education Units (CEUs). "Week of the Young Child" is celebrated nationally each year and will be hosted locally in April by YCAEYC. The association also plans to conduct a professional development conference in the fall of 2008. The Board meets on a monthly basis, the second Tuesday of each month and meetings are open to the public.
History:
YCAEYC was founded as an affiliate of NAEYC in 1989 with a membership of 57. Currently YCAEYC has a membership 86. Along with trainings, workshops and annual conferences the assocation serves as the local WOYC host each year. This past year during it's 2007 General meeting, the association hosted "Celebrating the Early Care and Education Profession" by recognizing local professionals making major contributions to the field and all local child centers currently accredited by NAEYC and those achieving accreditation under the new NAEYC system.
